Propulsive and synth forward, Surrender is a banger about the haunting anger of grief. Written at a time of loss in Bower’s life, and fully realized with collaborators Derek Durant (Ombiigizi, Status/Non-Status) and Will Kidman (Julia Jacklin, Steve Gunn), Surrender is a thunderous inner call to yielding—coming to terms with the caveats of creation and accepting the mortal bargain of loss on the flip side of love.

With shimmering vocals and lullingly rhythmic percussion, Eclipse is a heartbreaker that soothes more than it aches. Written on a walk during the 2025 solar eclipse, then workshopped and realized with long-time collaborator Will Kidman (Julia Jacklin, Steve Gunn), Eclipse is a reflection on dark truth prevailing over fake light, and deceptive beacons of what could be that lead dangerously away from what is.

“As a songwriter and a storyteller, Bower is a singular solo talent in the making.” -Andrea Warner, CBC

“Bower and her supporting cast craft densely emotional stories that linger long after you put this collection back on the shelf.” -Laura Stanley, Exclaim!

“Hauntingly beautiful.” -Canadian Music Blog

“Misha Bower is fluent in many languages: love, longing, joy; tempo, tone, form… Trying to Have it All reads like a dark, moody novella. -Jim Di Gioia, DOMINIONATED

“…a beautiful debut solo effort that's flown under just about everyone's radar. Bower's vocals remain haunting and lush, and I expect the slow-burning Trying to Have It All to have a long rotation here.”
-Adam White, Best of 2019, PUNKNEWS.ORG

“The nostalgic new music video for the title track from Misha Bower's debut album, Trying to Have it All [by Travis Welowszky] perfectly captures a summer-night staple: wandering the midway at the carnival, lights flickering, balloons popping, stuffed animals flopping against the legs of tired little kids, constant flashes of sound and colour interrupting the darkness.” -Andrea Warner

Misha got her musical start with former Toronto-based ensemble, Bruce Peninsula. During her deeply formative membership with BP, Misha developed her voice and guested on a number of albums by fellow Canadian artists including Jenny Berkel, Minotaurs, The Weather Station, Henry Adam Svec, Daniel Romano, City and Colour, Timber Timbre, Snowblink & more.

One of the great honours of Misha’s musical career is having her song Starless Nights covered by the phenomenal iskwē & Tom Wilson. Songs by Misha have also appeared in feature film Body & Bones (Oates, 2019) & TV show Kim’s Convenience.
